What Happens Inside the Royal Air Force

Joining the Royal Air Force is different from other jobs in the Great Britain. All armed forces are required to leave home, stay in a base for a long time and be assigned on different operations around the world. With a work environment such as this, the RAF has managed to make life for their air crew feel like “home though they are far from home”.

Leaving home for the air force is a difficult experience to almost everyone. The fear of not knowing what lies ahead daunts the recruits and their families. This is why the RAF finds it very important to keep the air crew encouraged in their jobs. Because of this, this British Armed Forces branch has set out heaps of other activities and amusement that doesn’t involve work.

On base, the RAF has hundreds of personnel that a new recruit could possibly socialise with. The base is built like a big community that has every necessity there is. The Royal Air Force also provides life advisers to help recruits know what they want to do within the base and their families back home. Another good thing is that the food and shelter are subsidised giving the recruit a reason to lessen his/her worries at the base.

Overseas, the Air Force’s recruits experience a new and well-maintained lifestyle as well. Even though they are hundreds of miles away from their families, the RAF gives them the privilege of constant communication. RAF recruits are deployed on certain parts of the world. Aside from their amenities on the base, they are given the freedom to roam around the city during their day offs.

Life in the RAF is not all about trainings and deployments. There are other areas that give their air crew entertainment and leisure. Like sports for example. Recruits are highly encouraged to have a sport. Not only does it boost their physical skills, it also relieves their stress from a long day of work. The RAF has their own sports complex within their base where recruits can mingle with others as they play the sport that they like. Aside from those, RAF crews can also do things like what they usually do back home. They have the freedom of going to the cinemas, shopping at a nearby town or hanging out with their friends at the base camp.

The Royal Air Force manages to have everything in their base camp to make the soldiers feel at home even when they’re not.
